I'm Reading a Book
So I'm reading this book called the Raggamuffin Gospel, by Brennan Manning. It's a great book for those interested in the true nature of grace. I really like the author's attitude.
I was going to quote quite a bit of this foreward because I think it contains the spirit of what he's trying to say. I erased it by accident, darn. I'll try and paraphrase a bit of it. Basically he's telling us who the book was written for and who it was not written for. He says it's not for the super-spiritual, the legalists giving their souls up to follow rules, it's not for those who only live on the mountaintop and have never experienced the valley of desolation, or those "noisy feel good folks who manipulate Christianity into a naked appeal to emotion."
This book is for those who are burned out or those who feel their lives is a great disappointment to God, or "smart people who know they are stupid..." And my personal favorite..."for those inconsistent, unsteady diciples whose cheese is falling off their cracker."
One more quote that I really liked was, "Quite simply, our deep gratitude to Jesus Christ is manifested neither in being chaste, honest, sober and respectible, nor in church going, Bible-toting and Psalm singing, but in our deep and delicate respect for one another."
Anyways, I'm only half-way done but already I'd recommend this book to other open-minded folks, Christian or not. I think that it eloquently sums up much of the philosophy of Jesus.

I had a birthday, I turned 28. It was very nice. My co-workers got me Mangia pizza, yum. I also got treated to an amazing dinner by my sister and got some really sweet gifts from CJ. My peeps joined me at Club Deville for some cocktails and conversation. Thanks to those who made it, I really appreciate you guys.
