  Pauly Shore is Dead
Last night CJ and I went out to see Pauly Shore is Dead with commentary by the real live Pauly Shore. He was a hoot. Certainly just a regular guy who made it big for awhile. He pokes fun at his own rise to fame and fall from fame with a fictional story of himself faking his death. The celebrity cameos were awesome! Tommy Lee, Snoop Dogg, Todd Bridges, Heidi Fleiss, Fred Durst, Sean Penn, Charlie Sheen and more... Not a bad job at all Mr. Pauly seeing as though you had a small budget, you paid for it by yourself, directed it, wrote it, and produced it. Very cool. Thanks for visiting Austin and showing us your movie. While downtown we ran into Jeremy who was taking pics of the sign above the Draft House. I got to introduce him to CJ and got to catch up with him. What an seriously awesome and fun night! Here we are waiting in line at for the movie:)

  My grandparents #2
This is my grandfather and my greatgrandfather on the Island of Guam. This picture was published in the SanAntonio Light Newspaper (it no longer exists). My greatgrandfather served in both world wars, first as a soldier, second as a postman for the Navy. My grandfather was in the Marines. He thought being in the marines was pretty darn special. He told all kinds of funny stories. He used humor to deal with the horific brutality of the war. I wonder if he ever got over it. Ahhhh I miss him, what a character he was.

  No Child Left Behind
Now that I work in education I have some thoughts on the No Child Left Behind policy. Well it looks great on paper, is beautiful in theory but it is totally unfunded by our current administration. You cannot have any tests, benchmarking, raising of standards in schools without spending money. Period. That is the way the world works. If you want to remodel your house, or landscape your yard except to drop some cash. Ask my sister, it costs much more than you think it will. Same goes for education. Every political candidate says that education is top priority, polls say that the American people believe that education is a top priority. But who is going to give the money to help our children learn?
